The task here was to design a simple, 3 colored T-shirt. Any design, any color, the only requirement was to use 3 colors.
I started with a rough, simple sketch, then created a cleaner one. I knew I wanted a simple design with bright, fun, contrasting colors, so I roughly filled in my sections while sketching to help me figure out how to balance my colors. I knew I wanted a lot of contrast.
I then played around with several different color combinations and decided on the one that I felt had the best contrast and the most interesting color combination.
Lastly, I coated my screens with emulsion, burned them with my stencils, hand-mixed my inks, and then printed my shirt one layer at a time, letting the ink run through a dryer in between each print.
The shirt has continued to stay bright and the design fully intact through several washes.
